When it comes to buying unflavored protein powder, there are many choices to make. You can go to GNC or another vitamin shop like it and walk into the store and ask the person what the best cheap whey protein powder out there is. Or you can go into a big box wholesale club store like Costco and try to seek out a big 10 lb protein powder that will hold you over for a few months.

But this is a problematic way to make a decision on which protein to buy. You have to be very careful when purchasing 10 lb protein powders because you never know what you are going to get.

How To Buy A Cheap 10 lb whey protein powder.

The first thing you need to do is to calculate the protein percentage. By calculating the protein percentage, this will give you a good indication of the quality of the powder. Because you are buying protein powder, not whey powder, believe it or not, you could buy whey powder that is only 35% protein. Which means for every 100 grams of powder you are just getting 35 grams of actual protein.

When you buy a whey protein powder, you want to get the highest protein percentage you can find. So whether you go to a local supplement shop or go to a big box retailer like Costco, you want to bring a calculator. Usual your mobile phone has one. The first step is to find the 10 lb protein powder that you want. Then look at the back of the nutrition facts panel or the supplement facts panel and find the grams per serving. Usually, it will be about 20 to 40 grams.

Then see the protein grams. Often, it will be between 20 and 40 grams. Then divide the protein grams by the serving size and that will give you the protein percentage. That will provide you with the percentage.

60 to 80 percent will means that it is a whey protein concentrate. If the number is 90% or higher, it means the protein powder is an isolate. Typically, protein powders that concentrate will have lactose. Lactose can cause digestive issues like bloating and gas. A whey isolate will not have any lactose, and that will not cause any problems. However just because it is a whey concentrate does not mean that it is lower quality than a whey isolate.

I have seen many people talk bad about whey concentrate over an isolate, but the truth is that concentrate and a whey isolate will pretty much have the same amino acid profile. Just that an isolate has it beat by 10%, which is minuscule. A whey isolate does not have a higher digestible rate than a concentrate. In conclusion, it is perfectly fine to use a whey protein concentrate that is unflavored, cheap and does not come with any flavor.

Personally, I think that is the best way to buy a whey protein powder, unflavored, and without any sweeteners, this way you know you are buying 100% protein powder and not paying for flavors.
